File prep guide

Ten checks that make artwork press-ready. Print this and pin it next to your desk.
1

Colour mode

CMYK, not RGB. Convert before export — screen colours can shift in ink.
2

Resolution

300 DPI at final size for all placed images. Web images (72 DPI) will print fuzzy.
3

Bleed

0.125 in on every edge where colour runs to the trim. Extend backgrounds past the trim line.
4

Safe zone

Keep text and logos at least 0.25 in inside the trim line.
5

Fonts

Embed or outline all fonts. Never send a file that relies on us having your fonts installed.
6

File format

Press-quality PDF preferred. AI, EPS, PSD, TIFF also accepted. Export PDFs with marks + bleed.
7

Black text

Set small black text to 100% K only — not 4-colour black — so it prints crisp.
8

Rich black

For large black areas: 60C / 40M / 40Y / 100K. [CONFIRM] house rich-black spec.
9

Vector logos

Send vector (AI/EPS/SVG/PDF) whenever possible. JPG logos will not enlarge cleanly.
10

Proof

Check spelling, phone numbers, dates, and prices twice. Approved proofs define the job.
